IMA vs. QPMPA — Part 5 — The Double role of IMA
Monday, 09 August 2010 15:58
Time to find out the motives of the IMA Kerala in Drug Licence case —
The dubious role played by IMA
Kerala IMA filed SLP (C) No. 15171/2010 without taxing the members!
Then who is sponsoring this petition in the Supreme Court?
On 28.6.2010, the IMA informed the Apex Court that they are negotiating the issue with the Government and demanded one month and the Court allowed it.
Then on 2.8.2010 the IMA again demanded 8 more weeks and the Court allowed two weeks and the case is posted for hearing on 16.8.2010.
The presence of very rich SPONSORS on IMA's side cannot be ruled out.
By 2.8.2010 it was crystal clear that the IMA Kerala is on the wrong side and wanted to delay the case as a doctor-friendly petitioner and the respite will impress someone — the Sponsors! This is part of the business, even when the situation is hopeless!
Every delay under the pretext of negotiations with the Government will force a few hospitals short of life saving drugs to yield or surrender to the illegal demands of the Drugs Control Department.
In this process the ulterior motive and hidden agenda is slowly implemented — employ pharmacists in those hospitals.
At least four pharmacists will get a job — a job with power to manipulate the drug purchase policies of the hospital — for every Drug Licence taken by a hospital.
Ironically, the Licence is issued in the name of the Pharmacist employed by the hospital!
All the letters and emails from the IMA are directly and indirectly aimed at forcing hospitals to take Drug Licence. See http://www.qpmpa.org/news-and-events/9-drug-licence-case/36-ima-vs-qpmpa-part-2-ima-letters-in-may-2010.html & http://www.qpmpa.org/news-and-events/9-drug-licence-case/38-ima-vs-qpmpa-part4-emails.html
Kindly note that the Pharmacists are a united lot and every one cooperates for a common cause, a trait unknown to the medical fraternity.
They have a very rich association, and if the tricks played with the IMA materialise than at least 10,000 pharmacists will be directly employed overnight! An equal number in the next few years.
ONE "k" Gandhi per job projected can fetch a very big sponsorship fees.
That will be a ONE crore kitty, the minimum to be anticipated.
The leaders can help IMA members enjoy the benefits free of any investment and can still be in the good books of the followers, having protected single and couple members!
Interestingly, 95% of the IMA members are not going to be affected as they do not run a hospital or clinic!
The first target of the Drugs Department are the modern medicine hospitals and clinics.
Then the ayurveda, homeo and dental establishments will be trapped and tapped.
That will take the total institutions to be licensed to over 6,000, and jobs for 20,000 pharmacists in Kerala alone.
The next beneficiaries in line are the 150 or so Drug Manufacturers in Kerala, all friends of the Drugs Department, their relatives and politicians.
The drugs of these companies are unknown to the doctors in Kerala.
These companies do not have a marketing network as that maintained by multinationals.
Most of these spurious products are sold to the Kerala Government.
Every hospital having a Drug Licence can be insinuated to buy the products of Drug Companies in Kerala and the marketing expenses divided pro rata between all those involved — officials of the drugs control department!
The IMA leaders are always for negotitions for the wrong things and the letter dated 15.07.2010 and the minutes from the Government is News & Events Tab — IMA vs .QPMPA Part 3 — Minutes." http://www.qpmpa.org/news-and-events/9-drug-licence-case/37-ima-vs-qpmpa-part-3-minutes.html

So far divine providence was on the side of the condemned commercial private hospitals and we must be thankful to all our Gods.
However, WE, the QPMPA, are not happy with the parochial and mean attitude of the private hospital OWNERS.
Hardly a hundred out of 2,000 has cooperated.
They have funds to bribe officials and nothing for the association protecting them!
This association has helped them save thousands of rupees as licence fees and bribes in this issue alone during the last 36 years!
The main reason being the lack of understanding of the rights available for citizens in a democracy.
Majority of them are ready to lie down and swallow everything to be in the good books of the powers-that-be!
If the Kerala IMA had acted with maturity, they should have taken the QPMPA into confidence and we too would have joined them and made a fortune!
Now it is too late and we are sorry.
The fight will continue — do or die.
Some of us still maintain and respect the freedom we enjoy in India.
We do respect the law of the land and are still fond of boiled RICE denied to many for various reasons.
We in the QPMPA do not believe that the PHB Chairman is the one responsible.
The cunning king makers in IMA are with the reins.
Jai Hind.
